Carrier Oils

We stock a small carefully selected range of carrier oils. The base oils Sweet Almond, Grapeseed and Peach Kernel are all usable as general carriers for essential oils or for use alone; choice is a matter of personal preference. Avocado, Borage Seed, Evening Primrose, Jojoba and Wheatgerm are usually used as additives to enhance or particularise a preparation. For ease of postage carrier essential oils are supplied in either 50ml, 100ml or 1000ml plastic. This does not adversely affect their useful life.

Avocado

Avocado is a soft and moisturising oil ideal for dry or mature skin. It is highly nutritious containing a good supply of vitamins A and E. It is generally used as an additive to other base oils at up to 20% dilution.

Borage Seed

Borage Seed oil can be added to other carriers at 10% to 15% to give blends a boost. It can also be used undiluted an as intensive night treatment for face and neck. It is ideal for dry, dehydrated or mature skin and is widely acknowledged as a help in dealing with stretch marks.

Evening Primrose

Evening primrose oil is high in fatty acids and is regarded as having good moisturising properties. It is generally used as an additive to other carrier oils at up to 20% dilution.

Grapeseed

Grapeseed oil is an ideal carrier for massage; it is light and readily absorbed into the skin and is relatively inexpensive.

Jojoba

This mild softening waxy oil feels very smooth on the skin which it penetrates rapidly. Jojoba is very nourishing and rich in vitamin E and therefore is used extensively in skin care. Use up to 20% dilution in main carrier oils such as sweet almond.

Peach Kernel

Peach Kernel increases skin suppleness and elasticity. It is beneficial for all skin types, especially useful for dry or mature skin and relieves itching. It is a fine textured oil and can be used on the face and neck.

Rosehip

Extracted from the seed of the rosehip plant this oil is widely used to replenish dull or tired skin. It is easily absorbed and is in demand for helping scarred and wrinkled skin.

Sweet Almond

A very popular all round carrier oil which protects and nourishes when used regularly. It is light and quickly absorbed and is rich in vitamins.

Wheatgerm

Wheatgerm is a highly nourishing oil containing vitamin E making it good for dry or mature skin. It is too heavy to use on its own as a massage base so should be used as an additive to massage blends at about 7%.
